The next Society meeting is at Dewsbury District Golf Club on Wednesday. ■■Darren Crowe notched a double success at David Chapman’s Professional Weekend.

Crowe scored an excellent 69 on the Saturday but then followed it on Sunday with an even better score of 67 to easily take the top prize by a three shot margin, finishing on 136.

Mark Clare, who took second place, also improved his first round score of 70 and came in with a 69 to finish with 139, to pip John Firth who equalled his 70 score on Saturday which gave him a 140 total.

1st Darren Crowe 69+67=136, 2nd Mark Clare 70+69=139, 3rd John Firth 70+70=140, 4th Stuart West 75+67=142, 5th Stuart Chaplin 72+70=142, 6th Eddie Casper 71+71=142 ROB Booth is celebrating a fantastic double success – and collecting £2,000 in the process.

The 33-year-old professional attached to Crosland Heath won the Yorkshire Open title at Howley Hall and then took the Werneth Pro-am in Lancashire.

Booth had rounds of 71 and 67 at the Batley course in the 36-hole Yorkshire Open for a two-under-par total and a twoshot win ahead of Ben Hutchinson.

“I was delighted, really, because that title is pretty much the only one I hadn’t won on the Yorkshire calendar,” said Booth.

“I had no caddie, either, so I had to carry my own bag, which is the first time in ages!”

While that was fine form, Booth was sparkling at Werneth just 24 hours later and recorded a remarkable eighth win of the year.

He fired a seven-under-par 61 in the PGA North Region event, racking up an eagle two at the fourth and registering eight birdies as well.

“I was out in 29 despite a bogey and was seven under at the turn, before playing the back nine in level,” he explained.

“My form has been pretty good and I’m hoping that’s going to be the case for the rest of the season, because I’m top of the North Region order of merit at the moment.”

Woodsome Hall’s Rochelle Morris will seek to win another title when the English women’s amateur championship is held next week at Lindrick Golf Club in Yorkshire.

The 20-year-old, who is in action this weekend with the England women’s team as they attempt to retian their European Championship title in Portugal, is part of a strong field.

Curtis Cup player Morris faces some high-quality opposition, including Cara Gainer (Castle Royle), who won the English women’s match play last week, Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe), the British stroke play champion, Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest), the Welsh stroke play winner, Emily Price (Cleobury Mortimer), the English stroke play champion, and Lily May Humphreys (Stoke by Nayland) the English Under 16 girls’ champion and recent winner of the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.

The event will be played from Tuesday to Thursday, and all competitors will play 18 holes on each of the first two days – the field is then cut to the leading 40 players and ties who play 36 holes on the final day.

Chris Hanson crashed spectacularly from the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open with a seven-over par second round at Dundonald Links to finish six over.

The Woodsome Hall ace had been one under, but suffered seven bogeys and a double while carding just two birdies.

Marcus Armitage (Howley Hall) started four over and finished a shot better after a 71.
