Bridge stun rivals and land finals day

-

ARMITAGE Bridge will host the Total Indoor Cricket Solutions T20 finals day after a stunning win against Honley in the Trophy semi-finals.

The Dean Brook Road club will take on holders Delph, who beat Moorlands with a ball to spare, in the Holme Valley on July 30.

Clayton West will play Mirfield Parish Cavaliers in the T20 Shield final, for teams outside the Drakes Premiership.

Danny Moorhouse’s Bridge did a great job in restricting Honley to 132-4 in their 20 overs at Far End Lane.

Richard Jakeman with 44 and Kiwi Brett Randell – who has just got a Northern Districts contract – with 61 not out provided the bulk of Honley’s runs, but it was hard work as Kiwi Matt Wallbank took two for 23 in four and Jack Hinchliffe two for 32.

Kiwi Jaycob Curtling conceded only 21 from his four and South African Robin Broom 20 from his, before becoming the Bridge hero with an unbeaten 48 to steer them to victory.

Wallbank finished 17 not out, too, after Matthew West hit 34.

At Delph, Shree Goswami (77) and Muhammad Shakir (51 not out) were the key contributors as they overtook a Moorlands total of 160-6 with one delivery to spare and four down.

Young Xander Selby with three for 30 was the best of the Delph bowlers while Aussie Liam Smith, with an unbeaten 75, bolstered the Moorlands knock.

In the Shield, Clayton West were comfortable winners at Nortonthorpe, with Craig Glover taking three for 12 as the hosts were dismissed for 88 – Azad Ghalib top-scoring on 31 and Kiwi Kyle Hitchman taking two for nine in his four overs.

David Swan, with 57 not out, ensured there were no problems in the Clayton West chase.

Jedi Sports Championship chasers Mirfield Parish were crushing winners at home to Lepton in the other semi-final.

Lepton were bowled out for 114 with Dan Hope taking three for 21 and James Hardcastle three for 31.

Tim Orrell then piled in with 78 not out as Parish got home in just 10.4 overs.
