Spotlight to shine on staff

-

EMPLOYEES who regularly go above and beyond the call of duty are thoroughly deserving of praise.

Now the Examiner Business Awards 2017 is putting them in the spotlight.

The category of Employee of the Year, sponsored by Pennine Business Partners, recognises staff who take on tasks and responsibilities beyond their day-to-day role.

Do you have an employee that exceeds the normal requirements of their job? We are looking for inspirational, forward thinkers who exceed expectations and strive to make a difference to the business.

Last year’s winner was commercial refrigeration and air conditioning service engineer Robert Turner (pictured) who was recognised for his longterm commitment to training others at Huddersfield-based Crowther & Shaw Ltd.

During a 38-year career at the firm, he had been involved in training more than 40 apprentices – including managing director Mark Gledhill and many of the firm’s current engineers. He joined the company in 1978 after leaving school and completing his apprenticeship. At the time he joined the firm, it employed two engineers and one “improver”. It now employs 28 people.

Category sponsor Pennine Business Partners provides outsourced HR support that’s focused on engaging your staff, managing performance and helping build your business.

A spokesperson said: “Our team of qualified and experienced professionals are on hand to take the stress out of people management.”
