Golden tickets given away at Holme Valley Co-op stores

-

THREE Co-operative stores in the Holme Valley have been revamped to the tune of £500,000 and to celebrate 100 lucky shoppers walked away with prizes as part of a golden ticket giveaway.

The major investment has resulted in former Wooldale Co-operative stores being revamped in Wooldale Road, Holmfirth; Holmfirth Road, New Mill, and Springwood Road, Thongsbridge.

The opening day comes after the board and management of Central England Co-operative and Wooldale Co-operative decided to join forces.

Wooldale Co-operative Society has a long history in the Holme Valley stretching back over 130 years and 40 staffs across its three food stores have been transferred to Central England Co-operative.

To mark the opening of the new stores, dozens of customers queued outside to take part in the special golden ticket giveaway and walked away with everything from a 50” TV and a barbecue to Co-operative gift vouchers and Fairtrade chocolate bars.

Emma Simpson scooped the television after unwrapping her golden ticket at New Mill, with Barry Robinson walking away with the top prize in Thongsbridge and Gillian Gainsborough at Wooldale.
