School pupils, staff and parents enjoy day in the park

-

THERE was no tedious coach journey for a village school’s annual summer trip this year.

As a small school Denby First School likes to take all 73 pupils, staff and parents out for the day.

This year they decided to do something much closer to home, travelling just 11 miles from Upper Denby to Greenhead Park, Huddersfield.

The morning started by following the orienteering courses set up in the park with support from Sports Leaders form Kirkburton Middle School and Shelley College.

After lunch they took part in some survival skills training led by Project Sport and outdoor art led by Chloe Williams from The Children’s Art School.

There was also plenty time to play on the amazing playground equipment – meaning a very fun and active day was had by all.

Even the local PCSO Thomas Taylor, who was patrolling the park on his bicycle, called by to check everyone was safe and enjoying the day.
