Another win for Heath ace

-

ROBERT BOOTH’S run of success continued with victory in the two-day Yorkshire PGA Premier Ganton and Fulford Pro-am.

The 33-year-old professional from Crosland Heath picked up £1,650, after finishing tied at the top with Alex Belt of Snainton Golf Centre.

Booth was two over after the first round at Ganton to collect 34 points.

He then fired a four-under par second round at Fulford to add 40 points and win the event alongside Belt.

Third was Thomas Rastall of Howley Hall on 73 points, who picked up £1,000.

Booth, who withdrew from the weather-disrupted PGA North Region Championships at Bolton Old Links – it was won by Phil Archer of Birchwood with a 67 in the single round – now has seven wins for the campaign.

Those include the Yorkshire Open at Howley Hall, which he followed a day later by adding the Werneth Pro-am.

Booth, who is hoping to compete for a European Tour card at the end of the year, is still targeting the PGA North and Yorkshire PGA Orders-ofMerit. ■■The Outlane Mr Rabbits Captain’s Day featured wins for Trevor Mullins (Division 1) and Clive Turner (Division 2), both with 41 Stableford points.

Rabbit captain Len Campey encouraged the players to wear orange or green because of his Irish connections, and there was an abundance of colour around the course as a result of the theme.

The Division 1 winner had only a point advantage over Darren Cooper, while Turner won by two points from Mark Blackwell on 39, who had a better back nine than David Beaumont and Alan Arrowsmith (who both registered the same score).

Division 1: 1 Trevor Mullins 41 points; 2 Darren Cooper 40; 3 Kevan Sykes 39; 4 Nick Sutton 39.

Division 2: 1 Clive Turner 41; 2 Mark Blackwell 39; 3 David Beaumont 39; 4 Alan Arrowsmith 39.
