Boosts at Brands for Tom and Mission

Integro-backed racer Tunstall also enjoyed a strong showing in the double-header and said: “I think all meeting we had top-10 pace and it was good to finally turn that into a result.

“The class has taken a big step forward this year, and as a team, we have too.

“There are more areas we can continue to improve and we’ll keep pushing and learning to turn the potential and pace into results.”

However, Mission Racing’s Jordan Gilbert had a frustrating meeting as he had moved into third place in the Superstock 600 race only to crash out at Westfield on lap eight.

The next round at the ultra-fast Thruxton circuit in Hampshire sees the Superstock riders with a race on both Saturday and Sunday, giving both Mission Racing and Tunstall and his Integro team two more opportunities to add to their points tally next weekend. KAWASAKI Racing Team riders, reigning world champion Jonathan Rea and Huddersfield’s Tom Sykes, have made use of the mid-season break in competitive World Superbikes action to test their Ninja ZX-10RR machines at the Lausitzring.

In readiness for the next round of the championship the KRT duo – who lead the way in the rankings – completed a two-day test at the Lausitzring in Germany, taking away very positive results.

The changeable local weather provided periods of both wet and dry track conditions, with the official Kawasaki WorldSBK team concentrating on the dry periods to improve the race performance and other development aspects of the ZX-10RR’s race package.

Rea also tried out some development tyres for Pirelli, on which he set his best time of the test.

The rain returned at around 2pm on the final day and the team decided not to test in the wet conditions, having already made such good progress in the dry.

The 4.255km-long Lausitzring will be the venue for the next round of the WorldSBK Championship, to be held between August 18-20.

The 2013 world champion Sykes said: “We tried out various items at this test and the feedback from the bike was good. We set strong lap times and found consistency.

“On standard race rubber I set a 1.36.7 after seven laps. I am happy with that because I think it was about equal to my previous Superpole lap time.

“We would have tested just a few more things on the final day, but the rain came along again and put a stop to that.

“Overall, it was a successful test at the Lausitzring.”
