Brough has a target in sight

-

HUDDERSFIELD Giants’ Danny Brough could be in sight of a personal milestone as he faces his former employers Wakefield Trinity in the opening round of the Super 8s at the John Smith’s Stadium tonight (8pm).

The 34-year-old Scotland captain needs just 10 points to draw level with St Helens legend Kel Coslett in eighth place in the list of all-time leading point scorers.

Brough’s career total of 3,535 points has been reached with 87 for Dewsbury (2002-2003), 616 for York (2003-2004), 204 for Hull FC (20052006), 360 for Castleford (20062007), 489 for Wakefield (2008-2010), 1,641 for Huddersfield (2010-2017), 4 for England (2012) and 134 for Scotland (2004-2008, 2010 & 2013-2016).

Top of the all-time leading scorers list is a former Huddersfield and Wakefield star.

Neil Fox, who also played for Bradford, Hull KR, York and Bramley, still holds the return of a stunning 6,220 career points.

There will also be a contest for the try scorers tonight as Giants’ Jermaine McGillvary has scored tries in the Giants’ last three meetings with Wakefield (2-1-1), while Wakefield’s Ben Jones-Bishop has scored tries in Trinity’s last three meetings with Huddersfield (1-2-2).

Trinity’s Liam Finn has the longest scoring streak amongst Super League players, having registered points in Wakefield’s last 18 matches.

Finn last failed to score in a 38-18 win at Catalans Dragons on April Fool’s Day.

His scoring streak then began with Wakefield 28, Huddersfield 26 (SLR15, 26/5/17) Huddersfield 24, Wakefield 16 (SLR2, 24/2/17) Huddersfield 16, Wakefield 28 (CCQF, 23/6/16) Huddersfield 2, Wakefield 10 (SLR18, 12/6/16) Wakefield 36, Huddersfield 22 (SLR7, 25/3/16) Huddersfield 34, Wakefield 24 (SLR23, 26/7/15) Wakefield 14, Huddersfield 44 (SLR6, 22/3/15) Wakefield 18, Huddersfield 36 (SLR23, 3/8/14) Huddersfield 36, Wakefield 16 (SLR10, 21/4/14) Huddersfield 40, Wakefield 0 (SLR26, 1/9/13)
