VIRGIN Atlantic is celebrating 25 years of flying to Orlando by offering free wif-fi messaging throughout August.

The airline launched its first flight to the popular Florida destination from Gatwick in 1992 and has welcomed more than 17 million passengers on the route since.

Now with the help of Virgin Holidays they now take more holidaymakers to Florida than any other UK travel company.

To celebrate, customers travelling to Orlando this month will enjoy complimentary messaging wi-fi access throughout their journey, thanks to its partnership with Gogo.

Virgin Atlantic is also close to becoming the first airline in Europe to offer wifi across its entire fleet.

The airline has also announced a special anniversary fare to Orlando, with prices beginning from £359, which can be booked until Thursday, August 10.

Over the last quarter of a century, Orlando has grown to become one of the top holiday destinations for Brits – with more than 55,000 holidaymakers flying with Virgin Atlantic in August alone.

Today, Virgin Atlantic offers flights from four UK airports – and recently announced 20 per cent more seats on the Glasgow to Orlando route for 2017, as well as a trebling of flights from Belfast in 2018.

Shai Weiss, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic, said: “Orlando holidays and Virgin Atlantic flights go hand in hand so it’s clear to see why we’ve flown more people to the sunshine state than anyone else.

“From the warm and friendly service of our award-winning cabin crew, to our extensive in-flight entertainment, we make sure the holiday doesn’t start when you arrive in Orlando, but as soon as your feet leave the ground in the UK.”

Joe Thompson, managing director of Virgin Holidays, added: “There’s no doubt that Orlando is the flagship destination in Virgin Holidays’ portfolio and the variety of thrills and chills across its theme parks, nightlife and resorts means it’s easy to see why more of our customers pick Orlando holidays than anywhere else!”

Virgin Atlantic is offering a selection of special Orlando fares from all its UK gateways with the cost of a ticket from £359 per person.
