Plans fitting together for big jigsaw festival

-

THE Rastrick Beer Festival is back.

And this year there’s a Prosecco bar too.

The organising committee is planning the seventh festival for September 22 and 23 at St John’s Church, Rastrick community hall.

There will be national and local ales and ciders as well as food.

Organisers of this year’s festival have agreed funds will support Bloodwise, the UK’s specialist blood cancer charity, plus the Neonatal Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Roger Ellis, organising committee’s chairman, says he is hopeful that this year’s event will be as successful as previous years and he put its success down to hard work by a dedicated team of volunteers and the support of the community.

He said: “They have volunteered to help by serving behind the bar, helping in the kitchen and doing a host of other tasks. We have also received wonderful support from the business community and the festival sponsors.” brings people together but also raises money for such great causes,” said Kate Gibson, managing director of Gibsons.

Alan Sparks, lead organiser of the event, said: “The Charity Jigsaw Festival is now an established event in the local calendar with many visitors returning over the four days to view and buy from the constantly changing display.

“Even people with limited interest in jigsaws make second and subsequent visits.”

The Missing Piece Café returns with bacon butties, lunches and cream teas. This year the beneficiaries will be Together for Looked-after Children, Water for Life and St Martin’s Children in the Community Charity. Entry is £2.
