MANDY HOLDEN from Halifax West End has beaten thousands of fellow amateurs across England to qualify for the final of the Bridgestone Tyres Chase Your Dream Trophy.
And she has cancelled a planned holiday in Spain to play at the Bridgestone Challenge!
Mandy, 46, scored a net 77 at Woodhall Spa in the grand final of the Chase Your Dream Trophy, coming through with eight other golfers.
The West End member will now participate in the final at the pro-am of the Bridgestone Challenge at Luton Hoo in Bedfordshire on Wednesday, September 6.
And if she continues her current form and is on the winning team there, she could potentially play with Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia or another household which we didn’t par or better,” added McLean.
James Edwards and Chris Gaunt then enjoyed a fine 6&5 win.
The last pairing, Dewsbury members Ben Crowther and Fergus Barron, were 1up after nine, lost 16 to go all square and then a fanstastic chip shot at the short 17th by Crowther from an unlikely spot ensured the game went up the last with the result in the balance. But they lost 1down.
Morton grabbed a half to launch the singles in a see-saw match with Eaglescliffe greenkeeper Tom Smith, before Colcombe scored a 3&2 win.
But then it was a succession of defeats for Hunt, Calvert, Hartley, McAspurn, Gaunt, McLean, Edwards and Barron.
Crowther got a 3&2 win at the end, but it was of little consolation to the team.
“From the golf seen this wasn’t poor golf on our part it was better golf from our opponents,” commented Greaves, whose side are sponsored by Glenbrae Knitwear and Stromberg Menswear.
The Tom Wild Order of Merit is led by Colcombe, with Morton one point behind. ■■It’s the Union Fourball Betterball Championship, sponsored by Kelcol Bedding Company, at Outlane tomorrow.
