Giants mascot arrives as children get sporty
ONE of Huddersfield’s best known pubs, The Beaumont Arms at Kirkheaton, is still looking for a new landlord.
The Examiner reported last month that the Church Lane hostelry had shut.
A Punch Taverns spokeswoman said: “We’re still looking for a publican to take the long term opportunity at the Beaumont Arms, however it is currently open and trading.”
A recruitment opportunity for the Beaumont Arms will be posted on social media over the next few weeks.
In October 2014 we reported that the 18th century village inn had recently been let to a new tenant following a £220,000 refurbishment.
Anyone interested in becoming the landlord should contact 01283 501999. Team leader, Asif Anwar (left) and Huddersfield Giants mascot Big G with youngsters at a fundraising fun day at the Zone at Aspley at the event on August 18.
A group of teenagers from the National Citizen Service, a voluntary personal and social development programme for 15–17 year olds, put on the event.
Sezaan Yousas, aged 16, helped organise the fun day and said: “It went well. A lot of people came.
“Kids came to play and see the football stuff.”
Huddersfield Community Trust recently submitted a proposal to a funding provider to acquire support and funds to have a multi-sensory room in The Zone on Leeds Road.
It is hoped the space will enable disabled children and people living with dementia to explore and identify their emotions, support the development of core development skills such as self-awareness, selfregulation and motor skills.
Huddersfield Community Trust has found that The Zone is accessed by up to 10,000 individuals with disabilities each year.
The multi-sensory space could allow the trust to help even more families in need of support.
