Opponents Kirkburton needed a six off the last delivery from bowler George Mallinson at Broad Oak to tie the scores and force a bowl-out, but Aaron Moore was just a foot short of hitting a maximum!

Chasing a total of 175-7 in which Will Reeves retired on 52 not out, Kirkburton Under 17s needed 11 to win off the last over with five wickets remaining.

That 11 would have been enough to win had they lost only one more wicket, but Joe Lockwood was bowled by Mallinson with his first delivery and then Tom Wilby was run out by Reeves, who was named man-of-the-match.

So it was left to Moore, who finished on 28 not out from 22 deliveries including four boundaries, to try and salvage the tie – and he was very close to doing just that.
