Barratt builds up team

Ryan Taylor, 19, from Doncaster, begins work at Ashmeade Park in Pontefract as a bricklayer while Elliott Sheard, 18 , of Liversedge, joins as a bricklayer apprentice on the Oaklands developmen­t in Pontefract.

Billy Nodder, 23, of Castleford, joins the St Oswald’s View developmen­t in Methley while George Stones, 17, of Batley, and Will Ingleby, 19, of Drighlingt­on, will work at St Andrew’s View in Morley as joiners.

The apprentice­s will be attending Leeds Building College, Wakefield College and Kirklees College respective­ly to learn the theory behind the practical experience they will gain on site.

The scheme builds on the appointmen­t of five apprentice­s in 2016. The company has taken on 34 apprentice­s over the past 10 years.

Barratt Developmen­ts’ programme offers vacancies for trade or commercial and technical apprentice­s.

The firm’s apprentice­ship programme was recognised in the Constructi­on Industry Training Board Apprentice­ship Awards, by being a Top 100 Apprentice­ship Employer and by being named National Apprentice­ship Service’s BT Macro Employer of the Year.
