Get ready for an action-packed autumn A

-

UGUST has slipped seamlessly into September, and for school holidays survivors there’s a flurry of lovely new games to look forward to.

For fans of the beautiful game, this month heralds the annual PES/ FIFA derby, while the adorable Knack finally gets a second outing.

There’s also a return for the classic Metroid, and Marvel fans get a chance to pit their favourites against the might of Capcom.

Konami has been working to tweak PES even further, refining gameplay to give the title a more realistic game pace. Real Touch+ adds a new dimension with full body touch allowing various parts of the player’s body to control the ball. All in-game menus have been

redesigned and a new online mode, dedicated to 2v2 and 3v3 co-op play, has been added Fans who can’t wait until next week can download and play a demo now. A HEADY kick of nostalgia is on the cards with this modern take on a classic. Metroid: Samus Returns is a reimagining of the 1991 Game Boy game Metroid II: Return of Samus. While the overall look and story of the game remains largely unchanged, the rebuild features new controls, revamped graphics and gameplay. Alongside these new additions, Samus has new abilities, and attacks at her disposal. There are even two new amiibo figures which, when combined with the game, unlock in-game extras and a new mode. THE roster for Capcom’s new crossover fighter was leaked months ago, and has already suffered the wrath of fans. There will be 30 playable characters available at launch, but fans are irked at a perceived lack of Marvel characters from the movies. In fact, if you glance through the Marvel list you’ll find not a single X-Men or Fantastic Four character. Leaks about the characters have already got Marvel fans worked up ahead of Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite’s release later this month

Now the hope is that more interesting characters will become available as DLC, with Black Panther and Sigma already being confirmed.

All will become clear when the game lands later this month. PC Fans chomping at the bit to get their hands on the latest release can get their FIFA fix early by playing the demo.

Likely to be released on all consoles on September 15, the demo weighs in at a hefty 7.3GB.

As far as the game goes, last year’s successful addition The Journey returns, and EA are promising new and beautiful things from the Frostbite engine.

EA has also looked long and hard at career mode, and the changes it has made are significant.

One of the biggest is the addition of interactive transfer negotiations.

This allows players to take part in real-time transfer negotiations with club reps and agents – and it looks gorgeous too.
