things really well.

“This has been a real tough period for us with a number of losses but I’ve always said we’d learn things as a group because the Super 8s has been a new experience for us.

“Some of the young lads like Jake Bibby and Ryan Lannon did really well, and as a team and a club we will do better for this experience.”

On what lies ahead for the rest of the campaign, he added: “We have just got to worry about ourselves. The table will look after itself. We have been focusing on us rather than chasing a Grand Final. We will take each step as it comes.” CASTLEFORD Tigers confirm that Tom Holmes will leave the club at the end of the current season.

Holmes, 21, was under contract with the Tigers for the 2018 season but will now depart at the end of the current season to take up an opportunity in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Holmes joined the Tigers Scholarship scheme as a 14-year old and went on to captain the Tigers Academy team before making the step up to the first team squad.

He made his first team debut for the Tigers back in 2015 but has found opportunities sparse in 2017, making just 6 appearances during the 2017 season.

Tom Holmes said: “I’ve loved my time here at Castleford since I joined my hometown club as a 14 year old boy.

“Obviously, it’s been tough for me to get into the squad here this season with the two best half backs in the league here in Luke Gale and Ben Roberts.

“Getting game time now for me at this point in my career is crucial.”
