Federation are a Knockout

-

Colne Valley Federation are Team Knockout champions. Colne Valley captain, Andrew Wadsworth (front right) with East Lancs captain, Lee Longland (front left), and their teams. THE Colne Valley Federation team continued their impressive season as they were crowned Federation Team Knockout champions.

The success comes quickly on the back of the Division Two title they claimed previously.

The team, captained by Andrew Wadsworth, progressed through the competition with wins against East Lancs, Furness and Nuneaton before a hard-fought final victory over Division 1 champions Barnsley.

The final was a tense affair, with Richard Walker (21-13) looking like being the only winner from the first four blocks, yet Gary Siswick produced some sensational bowls to secure a brilliant comeback win over recent All-England finalist Ross Meese (21-20) to turn the game in the Colne Valley’s favour.

This proved to be the turning point as the team went on to register four more winners with Tom Graham impressing, in particular, as he claimed a sweepwinning 21-10 victory.

The team now turn their attentions to the season finale at the Champion of Champions event, where they’ll be looking to secure a treble of honours for the season.
