After a 14-year gap, the White Rose team sponsored by Damart beat North Midlands by 38 points to win the British Inter-County Championsh­ip.

The final was at Bridgewate­r Bowling Club, Whitchurch, and to reach the showpiece Yorkshire featuring plenty of Huddersfie­ld bowlers – had a difficult first-round group of games including Shropshire and Warwick & Worcester, emerging the victors to beat South Yorkshire in the semi-finals.

There were some excellent performanc­es from the Yorkshire team, including Dawn Bray (Ossett Flying Horse) winning 21-8, Karen Hill (Hanging Heaton) 21-6 and Chloe Hirst (Hove Edge) 21-9, plus some good and determined bowling from the rest of the team.
