First aid training for big business names

PFE was the first company in the UK to provide its own Portfolio of Competency in First Aid at Work (FAW) training and to set out a competency-based methodology of delivery. It was also the only company in the country to gain approval by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to run the FAW course by distance learning as part of its PhD studies.
In 2000, it won a contract to design four courses for the training of police forces in England and Wales – including creating a set of national occupational standards in first aid for the Police Service, designing a manual of training materials and creating a pocket-size first aid “easy reference” manual.
PFE has been the sole provider of first aid at work training in the UK for Marks and Spencer for 14 years and for the Benefits Agency and the Inland Revenue for 11 years.
The company currently looks after a wide variety of well-known national and local contracts, including Hilton Hotels, Toys R Us, McDonalds, local authorities and A BUSINESS providing wedding stationery has proved to be a winner for the second year running.
The Wedding Angels, part of SwiftPrint based at St John’s Road in Huddersfield, won the award for outstanding customer service at the North of England Wedding Awards held at York Racecourse.
The awards, organised by The Wedding Guide UK magazine, recognise businesses that go the extra mile for their customers. Hundreds of companies entered the awards, with the votes of their own customers deciding whether they would be shortlisted as finalists in 18 categories. The awards judges then analysed customer comments before deciding the overall winners.
The Wedding Angels, led by Phil and Vicki Earle, provides wedding stationery including invitations, orders of service, thank you cards and RSVPs as well as menu cards, place name cards and table plans. The company has been a finalist in the awards four years running and this year won the second year on the trot. universities as well as hundreds of smaller enterprises up and down the country.
Mr Garvey said the HSE was beginning to recognise the benefit of “blended learning”.
He said: “This will also be an area for future development where those candidates who feel happier undertaking courses online or distance learning can also be accommodated.
“This is specifically an area for more theoretical sessions. The practical aspects of the course will still be delivered face to face through demonstration and practice.”
