Hitting the goal trail is a team issue for Town
No9 displays, believes it ultimately isn’t as simple as just getting a supply into the forwards.
“They’ve got a couple of big lads up there but they need the service – get the ball wide and get in crosses,” remarked Iwan Roberts after the 2-0 defeat at Swansea City.
“I think they will thrive on crosses but at the same time they’re not going to get a player who is going to get 15-20 goals this season.
“It has to be a collective issue you can’t just depend on your centre forwards, goals need to come from all over the pitch.
“You have to also make sure you are solid defensively and not conceding stupid goals – keep clean sheets and then that one goal will be enough to win you games.”
Roberts believes no-one should get too downhearted with the club’s current form.
The 2-0 defeat last weekend saw Town’s winless streak extend to seven games in all competitions, but the 49-year-old believes it is part and parcel of the learning curve the side are on in the top-flight.
“You can’t get too downhearted with this run of form, it’s going to happen in the Premier League. “It’s a ruthless division with some very good sides and it won’t be the last time Huddersfield Town may go four, five, six games without a win.
“The key is that everyone sticks together when they come - everyone stays focused and determined.
“All that matters is that they are still in the Premier League at the end of May.
“So there’s been a bit of a hiccup of late with no wins in the last few games but it’s been a good start. They got a good point and clean sheet up at Turf Moor and were very unlucky against West Ham United,.”
