I’ll give him mountain to climb vows Tyrone
explained Nurse, who will win the Super Lightweight Lonsdale Belt outright with victory this evening.
“I’ve returned and been doing tough runs back home – one-mile sprints in around 4min 20sec.
“I am not a runner, I’m a boxer, so I don’t think that’s a bad pace at all for a mile run, and I am consistently clocking 4min 20sec and 4min 25sec.
“So I am very fit, I’m excited, I feel strong and I feel good.”
Nurse was sparring with Liam Walsh (who has boxed for a world title) and his brother Ryan (who holds a Lonsdale Belt) when he was in the Canary Islands.
He also did a lot of work against Armenian lightweight southpaw Artem Haroyan, who is 14-1 and a WBA Continental title holder, and he believes that work will pay off against Catterall, who hasn’t fought since April, when he won by technical ko against Martin Gethin at Manchester Arena to retain the WBO Inter-continental Lightweight title.
“I started off against the heavier lads to get my strength and then I’ve progressed to the smaller, lighter, quicker guys in sparring to get my movement in order and my head going,” he explained.
“My weight is ahead of where I usually am and I feel really good.
“Frank is keeping me busy and this is my third fight of the year, whereas in the previous two years I’ve had only two in each.
“I’m contract to four fights, so if need be we can stick another one in before the end of the year, but it’s all a case of playing it by ear.
“Working with Frank, though, is providing me with opportunities, and I can’t complain at that.”
