The public would like Castle Hill left as it is
John Cleese, comic actor Peter Firth, actor, Glenn Hoddle, former footballer and manager, Simon Le Bon, pop singer
Mark Taylor, former cricketer, Former Town manager Lee Clark Vanessa-Mae, violinist, Kelly Osbourne, reality TV star/fashion designer, CASTLE Hill on the agenda again, a big mistake pulling the old one down.
We had a pub with refreshments and a meal to be had, yes a pub with much-needed toilets.
The old pub was in keeping with the surroundings, now the Thandi’s want to try to put buildings up there after they were stopped before because of flouting the original plans.
Not any old building can be built up there.
Our Castle Hill is loved by this town. A big hill with its history should be left alone to display its wonderful surroundings, this time they wish to know what the public thinks and it is commercially viable.
Of course toilets are needed up there, but why should our council bother with those as their policy is to get rid of them. THE Tories remind me of someone I knew years ago, and all that person spoke about was her pet poodle.
All the Tories speak about is the deals with Brexit.
Quite clearly they are turning a blind eye to the economy in other directions as inflation is higher and, as a result, strides are taking place looking at real facts.
During the Tory term of office we have seen rail strikes, cuts in both NHS and police forces. airport strikes, proposed postal strikes.
Who next, teachers, refuge collectors, clerical staff?
Believe me, as I predicted before the general election, more strikes will come as we see the Tories pleasing the rich and the royals, and leaving the working class into poverty as they struggle to cope with the rising inflation caused by the government before the election.
As a labour supporter I pole to working class people trying to convince them to vote for Jeremy Corbyn but some said ‘Am a Conservative voter.’
Yet these people are hardly Richard Branson, some Simon Cowell labour are in government-in-waiting and, in my opinion, the quicker labour gain power the better, before the Tories lead the country further IN 1992 a reunion was formed at Marsden school by Margaret Brier and friends.
It also included the 80th birthday of the late Miss Whittel, a member of the staff.
Since then a group of fellow pupils have met up each year at different venues in the area.
This year was 25 years on and an evening was enjoyed at the “Little Bridge, Slaithwaite”.
Thanks to Pat for organising it and for the lovely surprise celebration cake, a nice thought.
Two of our Margarets couldn’t be with us as they had other commitments, but they were thought about and very much missed.
