Dyson creates piece of history at Griffin

In the semi-finals, Dyson defeated Graham Sigsworth 31-22 while Allman just nudged out Craig Gant 31-27, bringing an end to Gant’s amazing 20-game winning run.

Gant had also come through the first round 31-30, against Liam Fallas.

The other ties, Dyson beat Robert Mudd 31-23 and Sigsworth toppled Ray Whitwam 31-24.

Club president, Alan Hirst, presented the prize money and trophy in Lockwood Con.

There was another full house attendance for the Huddersfield and District Bowling Association presentation evening.

It was excellently staged and hosted by Slaithwaite Cricket and Bowling Club, with all the season’s competition and Ballcraft Engravers League prizes being handed out.

Collecting their individual competition prizes were Callum Wadsworth (Autumn Handicap), Ashley Daykin (Spring Handicap), Jack Dyson (Sigsworth Memorial Trophy and Champion of Champions), Carl Allen (Jack Burgin Trophy), Mark Atkinson (Huddersfield Merit), Andrew Wike (President’s Cup) and Jack Wareing (Summer Handicap).

Dave Fox, of League sponsor Ballcraft Engravers, congratulated Andy Cairns, the Thongsbridge BC captain, on them retaining the Subscription Cup for a third consecutive year.
