The awards will be presented on November 30 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

University researchers have helped the firm investigate the science behind scalp cooling, clinically observed patient success and helped to design the next generation Paxman cooling cap. The link-up also helped Paxman’s scalp cooling system gain official clearance by the Food and Drug Administration to enter the US healthcare market – the largest in the world.

Paxman’s system is designed to help patients avoid the trauma of hair loss during chemotherapy by lowering scalp temperature and inhibiting the drugs used during treatment from affecting the hair follicles.

The partnership began as part of the Kirklees Innovation Voucher scheme run by Kirklees Council to provide businesses with expert help and advice on specific projects.

More recently, Paxman worked with the School of Art, Design and Architecture to design the next generation scalp cooling cap. Paxman plans future work with the university as it aims for “zero hair loss” by 2020. ■■Pictured are: Paxman chief executive Richard Paxman (right) and technical manager Patrick Burke (third left) with (from left) the university’s Chris Dunnill, Nik Georgopoulos and Andrew Collett (all of biological sciences); and Ertu Unver, principal fellow in product design. between August 2015 and August 2016 and relate to her application for income support and housing benefit.

Bradley allegedly failed to tell Kirklees Council and the Department for Work and Pensions that she was working.

Prosecutor Vanessa Jones said that she is accused of not disclosing that she held two jobs and received £3,379 in overpayments as a result.

Bradley’s solicitor Paul Blanchard said that she denied the charges – on the basis that she was working for Kirklees and the authority should have known this.

Her trial will take place at the Huddersfield court.
