YOUR new team – ie the committee – is working hard putting together events for you, the supporters, to enjoy.

First up is our highly popular Reindeer Race Night.

This will take place at Turnbridge WMC on Friday December 8th. Doors will open at 7:30 to allow you to enter into the mood of the evening.

Tickets cost a mere £5 and this includes a Pie & Pea supper.

Please support the event by buying a reindeer (£3) and/or sponsoring a race.

Santa’s Little Helper this year is Martin Eastwood, and he can be contacted on 07763 730 108, or by e-mail gollsuk@yahoo.co.uk.

We suggested to the club that the Open Day be resurrected and this is in the process of being organised. Again in conjunction with the club, the Fans Forum will return on Thursday, January 18, which is the date for you to go to the Fantastic Media Suite.

Andrew Watson, the Giants marketing director, and Nigel Wood, our game’s controller, have both agreed to be on our panel – the other two places are currently being negotiated. Our superb matchday announcer, Tim Burton, will once again be our MC for the evening.

We have taken on the responsibility of being gate people for the Academy games at Lockwood Park.

Sadly, most people who attend are away supporters. Let us know how we can attract you to these entertaining matches. We have a meeting with the club in the near future to discuss this.

We shall also be talking with them about ideas for next year’s Cricket Day. Again, let us know your ideas for the day. We also are liaising closely with the Legends clan. Emma and Richard are currently hard at work organising next year’s trip to Spain for the Catalans game. Please ring 07739 759 893 for details.

We continue to support the Players Association by being one of their calendar sponsors.

If you have not yet seen one, they are superb – each month features a photograph from yesteryear.

We should have some for sale at our December meetings – they will make excellent stocking fillers.

The Heritage Group is continuing to beaver away behind the scenes, building up the catalogue of our history. We shall soon be announcing the ‘Heritage Numbers’ of every player who has played for the club since 1895 – does anyone fancy researching 1864 through to 1895?

All in all, HGSA is here to promote the club, raise funds for the further development of youth rugby in the town, liaise with the club and bring your comments to their notice, and to give you, the fans, events that you want.

Keep up to date with all things Giants via our online Calendar, situated on our website www. GiantsSupporters.co.uk. HUDDERSFIELD Giants winger Jermaine McGillvary has been found not guilty of contrary conduct by the Rugby League World Cup Judiciary at Rugby League Central.

McGillvary was charged by the Match Review Committee after England’s second game of Pool A against Lebanon after Cedars skipper Robbie Farah alleged he had been bitten.

The 29-year-old, alongside England head coach Wayne Bennett and team manager Jamie Peacock, entered a not guilty plea to the charge via video link from the team hotel in Fremantle.

McGillvary will be available to play in the upcoming game against France at Perth’s nib Stadium on Sunday.

On the decision, McGillvary, said: “I fully understand the Match Review process and am grateful for a fair and balanced hearing.

“I’m pleased this is over and can now fully focus on doing my best for England for the remainder of the World Cup.”

Evidence was presented for more than an hour, but the threeman judiciary panel took just three minutes to deliver a not-guilty verdict.

The incident was placed on report by referee Ben Thaler after Farah complained he had been bitten on the arm in England’s 29-10 win at the Sydney Football Stadium last Saturday.

McGillvary, who has an unblemished disciplinary record in Super League, was immediately seen mouthing to Thaler, ‘you know I’m not that kind of person.’

Interestingly, Farah did not attend the hearing to give evidence or submit any written evidence.

McGillvary is one of only two specialist wingers in Bennett’s 24-man squad and has a proud scoring record of seven tries in eight appearances and has already been picked in the England starting line-up to face France.

Utility back Craig Hall has become the latest high-profile player to join Leigh’s quest for an immediate return to Super League.

The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Centurions after he was granted an early release from his contract with Toronto Wolfpack due to family reasons.

Hall, who has played in the colours of Hull FC, Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity, faces an immediate reunion with the club he captained to promotion when Leigh welcome Toronto Wolfpack in their Championship opener on February 4
