Her message was marked: For the Attention of Professor Denis Kilcommons, Department of Philosophy, University of Honley. “Dear Professor, “Possibly you could bring up this unfathomable question at your next departmental meeting in the pub, or circulate it to the wider academic community.

“It has stumped all the best brains in this learned faculty, and I fear it will take a whole lot more intellect to fathom.

“The question is this: Why do they put pedal bins in disabled toilets?”
