It’s just a waste of time

I AGREE with Mr Vause of Marsh regarding moving our clocks back and forth.

The reason for this movement is, or has, got rather vague.

During the wartime the Government did “Double Summer Time” in an attempt to save energy.

With the war over, Britain returned to British Summer Time as before, except for a brief trial between 1968 and 1971 when the clocks went forward but did not go back.

If you cut a yard from one end of a carpet and re-stitch it to the other have you effectivel­y made your carpet a yard longer?

No, then why do this to our timepieces when all you have achieved is moving the daylight hours to another part of our timepieces?
