Where is the council spending our money?
Martin Scorsese, film director, Lauren Hutton, actress, Danny DeVito, actor and film director,
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, actress, Terry Fenwick, former footballer and manager, Jonathan Ross, broadcaster Sarah Harding, singer THE time has come for a change from our Labour-led council.
Month after month new revelations come to light regarding failing services.
And as always our leader Clr David Sheard blames the present Government for all of his/our woes.
I must agree it must be a tough job running an organisation such as Kirklees and providing services – one which I would not wish to undertake.
So, is our council attempting to be everything to everyone which in turn leads to missed waste bin collections with no explanation or comment from Clr Musarrat Khan?
Our remaining libraries seem to be due to take another battering from Clr Graham Turner.
And now there is the removal of children’s play equipment starting with Golcar. This play area I feel will be just the first of many all done after or, in some cases, before final public consultations have finished.
These are essential services which have been provided for decades with little to no problems. I get sick of hearing buzz words such as open and transparent, engage with communities, grow this model, customer experience, journey and, finally, best delivered.
Annie Gouk for the Examiner did an article called ‘The truth about Government expenditure: where does all your money go?’ I would like Annie to do a similar survey on ‘The truth about Kirklees expenditure: where does all your money go?’ ON behalf of the Polish veterans I would like to thank the mayor and the mayor’s office staff for their very kind invitation to this year’s three Remembrance ceremonies.
The Polish people played a vital role to keep our independence and 30,000 sacrificed their lives, not to mention the Polish Air Force which was the second largest after the British.
According to the DVD The Untold Story of The Battle of Britain and letter I have received from the head office of the Royal Air Force Association, the Polish Air Force was fundamental in winning the Battle of Britain.
Here in Huddersfield 1,200 of us Polish veterans settled after World War Two.
I would also like to thank Clr Jim Dodds, his wife and the Rev Canon Simon Moor for the photographs taken with them at the Cenotaph in Greenhead Park which I have sent to the families in Poland whose family members heroically sacrificed their lives in defending our independence in the most critical times when it hung on a very thin thread.
I have a great pleasure to represent them as they were my personal friends before the war.
And myself I have successfully defended our independence in many different fields.
I would also like to thank all my English friends who took photographs with me at the Cenotaph.
