News /Big revamp for airport’s escape lounges

-

THE passenger lounges at Manchester Airport have undergone some big changes.

Manchester Airport Group has given four of its Escape lounges a makeover and has announced that its own in-house teams will be in charge of the lounges’ food and drink from now on.

The lounges have also become fully ‘all inclusive’ with items that used to be paid-for upgrade options included in one entry price.

This includes hot breakfasts, hot main dishes and premium beers and spirits.

Premium drinks which are now included in the entry price include Veuve Valmante sparkling wine and Manchester Pale Ale, thanks to a local partnership with Manchester brewery JW Lees.

The airport has also put its own staff in charge of running the lounges’ food and drink operations for the first time.

They were previously run by staff from the Delaware North Company, who have been given the option to transfer to become Manchester Airport Group staff.

All the lounges will continue to offer buffets, which are prepared on site throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the lounges have had a facelift, with new colour schemes, menu designs and locally-inspired artwork.

They also now feature new ‘Instagram walls’ where passengers will be in with a chance of seeing their own Instagram photos displayed for a limited period of time.

Beth Brewster, executive vice president, of lounges at MAG said: “Since opening our first Escape Lounge in 2000 their popularity has risen with our passengers.

“We have taken this opportunity to give our Manchester lounges a revamp that should make them an even more enjoyable space for passengers to use before they jet away.”
