AARON MOOY has been shortlisted for this year’s Asian International Player of the Year award.

The 27-year-old has been selected due to his fine displays in both Australia’s qualification for the World Cup and Huddersfield Town’s promotion to the Premier League last season.

The midfielder is up against Japan and Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa as well as Son Heung-Min of South Korea and Tottenham Hotspur with the winner announced on November 29. can criticise the referee Lee Probert but I think he needs to get help from the linesman there.

“It’s a clear foul on Florent Hadergjonaj - I don’t think it’s a red card, it’s a yellow card at most, but I can’t believe he did not give a foul for that.

“If he had given a foul it would have stopped the play and Callum Wilson’s goal.”

Shearer agreed: “It should have been a foul but, instead, they get a corner and they score from three yards out with a free header.

“That’s the first one and for the second one it should have been offside – it’s a good ball into the box but Huddersfield Town have held their line well. The linesman should flag but he doesn’t and again, it’s a very good finish.”

In Sunday’s solitary Premier League game, David Moyes’ West Ham reign began with a 2-0 Premier League defeat by upwardly mobile Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Scot’s hopes of a winning start in his 500th game as a manager were dashed by goals in either half from Will Hughes and Richarlison that left his new club in the bottom three.

The Hammers also lost £25m striker Marko Arnautovic with a suspected broken hand.

On Saturday Manchester City maintained their unbeaten start to the league season with a 2-0 win at Leicester.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now unbeaten in 24 matches in all competitions after picking up their 16th consecutive victory - a record for an English side.

Manchester United remain eight points adrift in second place after coming from behind to beat Newcastle 4-1 in the late kick-off.

Third-placed Chelsea ran out easy 4-0 winners against West Brom to increase the pressure on Baggies boss Tony Pulis.

Arsenal also proved they are still a force to be reckoned with by blowing away Tottenham 2-0 in a pulsating north London derby.
