Conductor and founder of Holme Valley Orchestra Jim Morgan, was reminded of his 25 happy years as musical director for Holme Valley Singers when he joined them last year at their 40th anniversary concert.

After that event at the Picturedrome Jim suggested that the choir and orchestra collaborate at Christmas time.

Jim felt the Valley Singers and the Valley Orchestra are a good match and should go together well to produce a ‘Valley Christmas Special’ for everyone in the area.

During the last 12 months Jim and the Rev Sean Robertshaw also approached Holme Valley Singers with the idea of creating a choir for young people in the Holme Valley, and in September the Holme Valley Youth Choir was formed.

Local musician Sarah Ogden is the musical director and the accompanist is Kim Kaye who is also musical director for Holme Valley Singers.

Sarah and Kim have spent this autumn term rehearsing the youngsters and they will be performing for the first time at the Christmas concert.

It will be on Sunday, December 10 at 4pm at Holmfirth Civic Hall (a bar will be provided by the Nook).

Tickets cost adults £9 and under 16s free. They are available from Holmfirth Tourist Information within the Holmfirth Library or by calling 07464 361858.
