USICIAN Kim Kaye takes on a dual role at the Christmas concert of Kirklees Choir – one of three guests who will be appearing.
As well as being musical director of the choir, she will be performing as one half of the RO’KA Piano Duo, which offers a wide ranging programme of established classical repertoire as well as a number of modern favourites.
The other half is Jane Robertson who is resident accompanist for Gledholt Male Voice Choir, the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth choirs and Honley Ladies Choir.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Jane is a freelance accompanist, soloist and piano teacher and recently performed Mendelssohn’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Holme Valley Orchestra in St. Paul’s Hall, Huddersfield.
Kim, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, is a freelance accompanist and piano, flute and music theory teacher.
As well as directing the Kirklees Choir she is also the musical director of the Holme Valley Singers and deputy conductor of Marsh Ladies Choir for whom she is their resident accompanist.
She also accompanies the Holme Valley Youth Choir and the Haydn Wood Musical Festival.
The choir’s third guest is cellist Will Mace. After studying for a degree in music at Hull University he became a secondary school music teacher and runs music education projects including assisting in the work of the Huddersfield Contemporary Musical Festival.
He has written music for local television commercial and radio stations and in 2014 he recorded an album called Borderlands written by the composer Monty Adkins.
Will also plays regularly with the Bolton Symphony Orchestra and the Square Chapel Orchestra in Halifax.
The concert on Saturday, December 9, starting at 2.15 pm is at Moldgreen United Reformed Church in Moldgreen.
