Why aren’t we caring?

-

CONGRATULATIONS to Huddersfield film makers club presentation: ‘2017 A Festival of Film.’ What an educating evening. A full programme of members’ films around the world.

We were taken on a train journey, river cruise, also a tea party in China, nearer home the story of Beatrix Potter, then a visit to Mother Shipton’s cave, not forgetting Slawit’s underpass makeover by students at Huddersfield art and design department.

After the interval we were shown more interesting local clips around Huddersfield, especially the one on the THE recent report on interference with snares tells just one side of the story.

Defra don’t set snares in order to protect wild birds. What they do is accept the gamekeeper’s self-written code of practice.

If a snare has indeed been THE heartbreaking photo of Sir David Attenborough crying in despair at a sea and beach coated in plastic.

But even worse are the photos he’s taken.

Seeing whales choke eating plastic buckets and giving it to their young, of the albatross mother lying dead with her chick eating plastic toothpicks. Dolphins choking to death on plastic.

These animals are at serious risk of extinction.

Why is anybody still buying plastic carrier bags and not caring?
