Wooldale v Had Edge. Dewsbury Town v Cartworth Moor, Golcar U v Sporting CAV, Mount v Westend. Fothergill Whittles v Flockton, Cleckheaton AFC v Rose and Crown. FLOCKTON made the most of beating the weather with a 5-2 away win in knockout competition.

With almost 40 games in Huddersfield falling foul of the weather, Flockton were fortunate to travel to Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium to play Bessacarr Vets on a 4g pitch under the lights in a second round Junior Challenge Cup tie.

After goods results over the past weeks, Flockton were confident of putting in a good performance.

However, a sloppy back pass and then a mis-timed clearance saw the home side two goals to the good after just eight minutes.

Flockton worked hard to get on terms, but Besscar keeper Morrisey pulled off three fine saves to keep the home side 2-0 in front at half-time.

Flockton piled on the pressure at the start of the second half and Danny Conway pulled a goal back after 10 minutes of the second period.

That strike was followed it up with a fine goal to level the scores on the hour as Corey Hepworth latched on to a through ball and lobbed it over the keeper.

With both sides now hunting for a winner, and with extra time looking likely, Bessacarr broke away and an excellent save by Mountain kept the scores level.

The ball was cleared and Hepworth again beat the tiring defence to give a relieved Flockton side breathing space and with a minute to go the hard working Tom Smith scored to put the game out of reach and give Flockton, who bagged a fifth, a well-earned victory.
