The Walsall-born stopper left Vicarage Road for two spells at Bradford City, in between an ill-fated stay at Crystal Palace.
But it was at Leeds Road under Warnock where Sinnott reached the peak of his powers, by then an experienced centre-half who became the final piece in Town’s promotion puzzle.
“I still had the legs at the beginning at Huddersfield, I really enjoyed my time there,” he said.
“I went there at Christmas time and still remember my first game for them was away at Hull, which is where I live now.
“Going to the play-off final and winning under Neil was extremely enjoyable.”
Sinnott has since ventured into the managerial world, most notably with Port Vale for a year before a five-year spell at Altrincham.
His playing career came full circle at Watford and Huddersfield, who meet in the top flight for the first time on Saturday.
“For them to meet now, together, it’s a magnificent achievement for both clubs to be in the Premier League,” he said.
“Obviously it’s all new for Huddersfield Town, while Watford have more of a history with it.
“But it’s always a challenge for most clubs to stay in the Premier League.
“I watch it all on TV and I see how Vicarage Road has changed, it being many, many years since I left – 30 years, in fact. Wow!”
