political events,” she said. “However, our reputation has set us in good stead and we have strived for quality at all times by never cutting corners and aiming to always save our clients time, stress and unnecessary costs.

“This ethos, along with investment in all the complex machinery that we require and strengthening our in-house technology, has paid dividends.

“I am pleased to say that we have emerged stronger than before and continued to provide the high standard of services that we pride ourselves on and also developed our client offer.”

During the year, RGS strengthened its fleet by purchasing a new drilling rig to assist its team of drillers and field staff, invested in new equipment for its laboratory and carried out development work to strengthen client reporting formats.

It also passed a series of audits relating to its management systems and health and safety.

Said Emma: “This is a very competitive market and there has been a lot of cost-cutting in our sector.

“However, we continue to strive to provide excellent value at all times, with no compromise on quality.

“Also, our development manager, Steve Letch, continues to work to engage with enquirers at the tendering stage and delivers well thoughtout and effective proposals.

“This approach and all our hard work are paying dividends.”

Looking ahead to 2018, Emma said January was already looking busy, despite a traditional postfestive lull in the construction industry.

The 23-strong team at RGS is headed by Emma, operations director Chay Rogers and technical director Steve Rogers, who is Chay’s father.
