Pensioner suffers serious injuries after road accident

Ambulances at Ravensknow­le Park following a car collision at Dalton Green Lane, with the air ambulance just visible behind the pillar A PENSIONER was flown to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries after a road accident near to Wakefield Road.

The 72-year-old man was struck by a car on Dalton Green Lane, near to the junction with the busy commuter road, just after 7.30am yesterday. An air ambulance and several ambulances attended Ravensknow­le Park following the collision, with police now appealing for witnesses.

A spokespers­on said: “The incident happened at the traffic lights on Dalton Green Lane and the junction with Wakefield Road.

A Nissan Micra which was turning left from Wakefield Road onto Dalton Green Lane was in collision with a 72 year old man who was left with serious injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the non emergency police number 101 quoting log 265 of Thursday 11 January.

The collision happened just 24 hours after the horrific crash further up Wakefield Road, at Moldgreen, in which 15-year-old Katelyn Dawson tragically lost her life on Wednesday.
