“He has obviously played rugby league at a very good level, but he is not a total rookie when it comes to rugby union.

“Sometimes it can take a while for a rugby league player to settle down when he switches codes, but Jordan played Union at Spalding and also when he was in the RAF, for the services sides, so that’s not the case with him.

“He looked very solid last week, when we didn’t concede a try – which was great for the whole team – and hopefully he can have a similarly successful experience now we are back at Laund Hill.”

Scholes is also encouraged by the emergence of some of the club’s younger players.

“William Burns-Smith and Will Perfitt have both come through and are trying to establish themselves in the first team,” explained Scholes.

“We are also keeping our eye on a couple of other second-team lads with a view to blooding them in the coming weeks, and a lot of the credit for all these players being on the scene has to go to Dave Cressy, who has been coaching the Colts.”
