The spring season brings more sensationa­l sounds to the LBT.

Huddersfie­ld University Big Band (Friday, April 20) are joined by one of the UK’s finest Big Band vocalists, Matthew Ford, for a special evening of timeless songs; powerful vocalist Eddi Reader (Monday, April 30) returns to the LBT’s stage and the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival (Saturday National Dance Company Wales tell stories from the earth we build our communitie­s on in their brand new triple bill Terra Firma and Sunday, May 12 and 13) takes over the building for two days of world-class live music.

Big-name comedians and exciting up-and-comers from the comedy circuit meet for another hilarious Laughs season.

Graham Fellows (Tuesday, February 13) steps out of his comedy character, John Shuttlewor­th’s shoes in his brand new show; Britain’s Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda (Friday, March 2) performs his debut stand up tour on the main stage; Phoenix Nights actress Janice Connolly provides just the ticket with her comedy character Mrs Barbara Nice (Friday, March 16); Shazia Mirza (Thursday, May 17) presents her hilariousl­y honest new show and Count Arthur Strong (Friday, June 1) is back to take audiences on a journey through his comedy career.

LBT director Victoria Firth said: “We are delighted to keep exploring new ways for creativity and ambition to thrive this season with our first theatre festival at Easter and an exclusive circus event in June, as well as continuing to bring the best drama and dance to the heart of Huddersfie­ld.”

The official unveiling of the Spring/Summer 2018 season takes place at the Season Preview on Monday, February 5 at 6.30pm.

Victoria and special guests, including creatives from Mikron Theatre Company, will be talking about the world premiere of Revolting Women. LipService Theatre will be discussing their comedy homage to Jane Austen, Mr Darcy Loses The Plot.

The M6 Theatre Company will explore the true story of the Holmfirth tiger in A Tiger’s Tale and Northern Broadsides will be chatting about their adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Hard Times.
