No time scale on Cudjoe’s Giants return
HUDDERSFIELD Giants club captain Leroy Cudjoe is not putting any date on his return to action.
The 29-year-old centre is disappointed that he will not be inaction in his testimonial match against Dewsbury Rams tomorrow (3pm), but is concentrating on being ready for a Super League as soon as possible.
“Unfortunately, I am currently injured so I won’t be able to play in the game,” said the hometown product.
“I am very disappointed that I can’t play, but sport can be cruel sometimes and I’ve just got to accept it and enjoy the day.
“My rehab from my knee injury is going really well, but there are no dates planned for my return yet.
“I am happy with where I am at the moment and looking forward to getting back out there when the time is right.
“I am very grateful to the Rams for agreeing to play in the game and they were more than happy to accept the offer.
“It also adds a little bit of spice with it being a Kirklees derby.
“I’ve been very fortunate to be able to become a one club man.
“I am very passionate about the Giants and Huddersfield as a whole – there is nothing better than being able to represent your hometown club.
“I am a strong believer in you get out what you put in, there is no secret, you just have to work hard.
“There is a lot of talent in the local area and with a lot of work and passion you will go a long way.” ■■Super League sponsors Betfred have agreed a deal to become the title partner of the Championship and League 1 until 2019.
The bookmakers take over from Kingstone Press and now sponsor all three professional tiers of the sport, having agreed a three-year deal with Super League 12 months ago.
Rugby Football League chief executive Ralph Rimmer said: “We are delighted that Betfred have extended their involvement in the sport to the Championship and League 1.
“Betfred’s first year involved in the Super League was an unquestionable success and I am certain that they will bring the passion and enthusiasm to their extended sponsorship.
“The Championship and League 1 provide great entertainment and are an integral part of the game and the fact that Betfred have extended their sponsorship to these tiers of the sport demonstrates the value they see in being involved in Rugby League.
“The Betfred Championship is now one of the most geographically diverse competitions in the world including teams from Toronto, Toulouse and London and with this new deal I am certain both competitions will go from strength to strength.”
