Cup charge

trick to level matters.

The icing on the cake came three minutes later when he scored his fourth to put the home side in front and to finish off Dan Conway rattled in a fifth to complete the visitors’ misery.

The success was fitting reward to the work put in from the side that were relegated last year without winning a game.

Unfortunately for the league and everyone else concerned another club has had to withdraw from the league through a lack of players.

This time it was Cask who this week handed in their resignation prior to their Groom Cup fixture with Littleborough CCFC.

In addition Wooldale Wanderers were unable to raise a side for their Division Three game against Cumberworth.

Wooldale are a long and established club in the district league with a great amount of history, but they reported that their committee would be meeting this week to discuss their future.

Kirkheaton Rovers, who were much reported about last week by the Examiner in their search for more players, were again unable to raise a reserve side for their game with Linthwaite Athletic who, ironically have themselves struggled at times this season to raise a team.

Kirkheaton Rovers are also a club with a long and established history within the district league and it is a great shame to see their demise.
