in the close season.

England World Cup sensation winger Jermaine McGillvary is carrying a slight knee injury followings his exploits down under and will not be risked.

Second row or centre Alex Mellor is also missing having broken a thumb, and prop Sebastine Ikahihifo will also not be risked as he is carrying a slight knock.

It means first run-outs in 2018 for experienced Australian playmaker Ryan Hinchcliffe, and fellow countrymen full-back Jake Mamo, second rower Tom Symonds – who have been recovering from respective ankle and knee injuries – and prop Shannon Wakeman fresh from his World Cup exploits with Italy.

Also included in a 23-strong squad is Ukuma Ta’ai who went to the World Cup semi-finals with Tonga.

Trinity coach Chester has named 22 players for the fixture, a squad which includes David Fifita who will feature for the first time in 2018.

Trinity this week named Michael Monaghan as their assistant coach ahead of the new Super League season.

The 37-year-old Australian enjoyed a successful playing career in the NRL with home club Canberra Raiders and Manly Sea Eagles before making the switch to Warrington Wolves in 2008.

Monaghan retired in 2014 and had a spell as assistant coach at Catalans Dragons, but will now take up a similar role under head coach Chester at Belle Vue.
