although he had been named in head coach Rick Stone’s 19-man squad for the game at the KCom Stadium.

McGillvary is joined in the Giants 19-strong squad to face the Wolves by close-season signing Colton Roche, who makes his first appearance in a matchday squad.

Giants’ Super League Dream Team prop Sebastine Ikahihifo is also fit and included despite being taken off during the defeat at Hull FC.

The quartet of club captain Leroy Cudjoe, Italian World Cup prop Shannon Wakeman, utility man Alex Mellor and Australian second-rower Tom Symonds are again ruled out through injury, but could all be fit for round three when the Giants are at home St Helens.

Warrington were beaten 16-12 by Leeds Rhinos in their opening game and Giants head coach Stone said: “We’ve got two teams coming up against each other who are pretty desperate.

“Nobody wants to lose their first game, but you definitely don’t want to lose the first two games in a row.

“There’s generally a bounce back from teams that got beat in round one and teams are really hungry and will go after the game. Both teams are in that position so you will see two pretty desperate teams.”

Warrington have a new coach in Steve Price, who has made a host of new signings, including half back Tyrone Roberts.

Stone added: “I coached him at Newcastle so I understand his game and I think him and Kev Brown will be good foils for each other.

“They are a formidable team but I do not think we saw the best of them last week and that’s to be expected for a new coach and new players.

“But I have no doubt that they will get better as the weeks go on
