The “Springtelligence” programme has been launched by the 120 year-old manufacturer to deliver a series of learning experiences aimed at engaging and inspiring the next generation of spring engineers – as well as providing them with knowledge and skills in the areas of spring engineering and manufacturing.
Vizulate’s involvement in the project included the development of a logo for the programme, the creation of a dedicated ‘Springtelligence’ section on the company’s website, public relations activity, and a series of promotional and instructional videos that will be published online.
Scott Brant, operations director at Vizulate, said: “Though engineering is one of the most productive sectors in the UK economy, there is a shortage of qualified engineering graduates and a lack of diversity in the profession.
“The overall engineering workforce is 94% white and 91% male.
“Effective, eye-catching branding and engaging online content plays a crucial part in launching the ‘Springtelligence’ programme to the digital generation and we are confident that what we’ve created alongside JB Springs will be successful in educating more young people on the benefits of an engineering career as part of the government’s year-long campaign.”
The 2018 Year of Engineering initiative is a year-long campaign designed to tackle the engineering skills gap and widen the pool of young people who join the profession. ORKSHIRE and Humber has seen a boom in exports of financial and related professional services.
A new report by TheCityUK found financial and related professional services firms in Yorkshire and Humber enjoyed a record year in 2016 in terms of overseas sales – with exports up by 22% to £4bn from £3.3bn the previous year.
Nationally, industry exports rose by 15.8% to £95.7bn.
Yorkshire saw the third highest percentage increase among the UK regions – behind the North East on 29% and Eastern England on 23%. London saw an increase of 17% while the South East posted a 10% rise.
The report – ‘Exporting from across Britain’ – also showed that Yorkshire’s financial services exports in 2015 accounted for 44% of the sector’s total output in the region that year.
Anjalika Bardalai, chief economist and head of research at TheCityUK, said: “While London is an important piece of the puzzle, over half the industry’s exports come from elsewhere – £4bn from Yorkshire and Humber alone. In 2016, industry exports saw double digit growth in nearly every part of the country. It’s this collective national contribution which helps to make the UK the world’s leading international financial centre.”
The UK is the world’s leading net exporter of financial services.
