THE PRICE IS FALLING DOWN ON DOUGLAS’ HOLIDAY PAD T

-

here are some properties that just won’t shift regardless of how glamourous and luxurious they may be, often because their asking price is way ahead of the market. And that seems to be the case for the 1,000 sq m Spanish home of Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, inset. They put S’Estaca, their sprawling Mallorcan estate, up for sale in 2014 for €50m, but nearly four years later it remains for sale despite its asking price having been slashed to €36.5 million. They share the property, which offers extraordinary views of the sea and the Sierra de Tramuntana behind it, with his first wife, Diandra Luker.

The secluded estate is in the seafront area of Valdemossa village and includes 247 acres of gardens, a central villa plus several separate guesthouses. The main house has 11 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and dates from the mid-19th century.

As one might expect of two Hollywood stars, it’s got a home theatre as well as a pool, staff quarters, wine cellar, jacuzzi and library.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones will still be spoilt for choice without their Mallorcan getaway, as they have a large portfolio of homes around the world, including a pad in the Colorado ski resort of Aspen, a luxury apartment in Manhattan, a house in Catherine’s home town of the Mumbles in Swansea and one in Bermuda, where the Douglas family has family and business connections.
