fix – we’re really sorry about that.”

As KFC had problems, customers headed to rival Marstons Chicken Shop in Leeds Road, Bradley.

Marstons had plenty of chicken – but ran out of bread for their chicken fillet sandwiches!

Hazel Dransfield, whose father John Marston founded the firm more than 30 years ago, said staff were puzzled over why they seemed to have a run on their chicken at the weekend.

Hazel said: “We’ve definitely been busier over the last day or two.

“We even ran out of bread. Everybody was running round trying to get it sorted.”

Many customers swear by Marstons and wouldn’t be seen in KFC, even if Marstons was shut, and Hazel added: “We have some customers who come to us every day of their life!”

KFC previously worked with Bidvest Logistics but signed a new deal with DHL.

A DHL spokesman said: “Due to operational issues a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed.

“We are working with KFC and our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

KFC tried to see the funny side and said on Facebook they were working “round the cluck” to get all restaurants open again.

They added: “Some chickens have now crossed the road. The rest are waiting at the pelican crossing...” But it was all smiles for Hazel Dransfield at Marstons chicken shop, on Leeds Road, who said they’ve been busier over the last couple of days!
