The reign in E

-

VERY year for a decade, the cast of Benidorm has trooped out to Spain’s sunny Costa Blanca to spend five months filming one of our favourite TV shows. How terrible for them all.

Over the years we’ve heard about legendary cast karaoke nights, hordes of loyal fans who line up to be extras and the neverending stream of guest stars. Dame Joan Collins, Nigel Havers, Madness and Bananarama to name a few.

And the comedy still pulls in the viewers. There must be something about the mix of sunburnt skin, beer in the sunshine and an all-inclusive buffet that keeps bringing us back.

In this documentary, celebrating 10 years of the award-winning show, the cast (past and present) lifts the lid on some show secrets.

The Garvey family return – Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, Sheila Reid, Ollie Stokes and Hannah Hobley talk about their roles.

There is also exclusive footage, show bloopers and a sneak behind the scenes at various locations such as the Solana hotel – which in reality is the Sol Pelicanos.

And the comedy’s creator and writer Derren Litten takes a mobility scooter down memory lane to give us a guide to the making of Benidorm.

It’s an entertaining special and it won’t burst the bubble. Yes the cast and crew are all great friends. Yes they are having a blast. And yes they really are one big family.

As Tony Maudsley, who plays Kenneth, says: “If you can’t have a good time in Benidorm, you can’t have a good time anywhere.”
