Disappointment as Ladies leave it too late at Stoke

-

Stoke, however, regained their two-goal cushion in the 55th minute with a delightful lob over Carter.

On the hour mark, Stoke were reduced to 10 players following a red card for violent conduct.

Chances came and went for Town as they tried to take advantage of Stoke’s reduced numbers.

With just four minutes remaining, Alex Hindwood played in Kate Mallin to score, but Town couldn’t get the equaliser.

The first team have no game this coming weekend.

On Sunday, the Development team are at home to Bolton Wanderers Reserves (2pm), while the Academy entertain Barnsley Reserves (2pm).

Town Ladies Under 14s were 3-0 winners at Rovers Foundation, moving six points clear in Division One with three matches to play.

The victory was based on a solid defensive display.

Goalkeeper Kiera Millward was protected throughout by the back three of Gaby Pearson, Leah Pearman and Jada Simon.

It took 28 minutes for Tamara Wilcock to open the scoring, collecting a pass from Alex McKie and firing home.

This was the impetus required and after having one shot just over the bar, Chloe Latham created space and her powerful shot was too strong for the goalkeeper, making it 2-0.

A minute later it was 3-0 as Laura Hulme won the ball and played it to Wilcock, who cross for McKie to net.

In the second half, Town went close with shots from Lucy Grice and Wilcock, while Hulme hit a post and McKie had a shot well saved.

Player-of-the-match was Chloe Latham for her competitive display in midfield, culminating in an excellent goal.

On Saturday, The Under 14s are at home to Sheffield United Girls (Red), 10.30am.

Also on Saturday, the Under 12s travel to Worksop Town (11am).
