Positive progress for Scissett’s survival bid

Deighton C replied with two sets from Marcus Batkin.

Paddock maintained their push for promotion with a comfortable 7-3 away win against the Woodfield Park B.

Jonathan Taylor (3), Liam Fearn (2) and Yurick Karmasyn (1) scored wins, while replying for Woodfield Park were Derek Moorehouse (2) and Janet West (1).

Deighton E kept their push for promotion from Division 3 on track with an emphatic 8-2 win over Deighton G.

Kayden Oates and Naila Malik won three each and Ron Powell one for the E side, while for G, Robert Sandiford and James Woodbridge had one each.

In the latest round of matches in the Yorkshire League, mid-table Huddersfield No2 travelled to York No2 in Division 2 and drew.

The spoils were shared 5-5 and in excellent form was Janet Adams, winning all three of her matches. Russell Senior and Ian McLean won the other points.

In Division 3, Huddersfield No3 team are in with a great chance of promotion after beating York No4 8-2 away.

Jonathan Taylor and Geoff Dunne were in good form, each with three wins and teamed up to win the doubles, while Phil Schofield chipped in with one.

Huddersfield No4 were also away at Dewsbury No3 and went down 6-4.

Clive Standen (2), Keith Skarz (1) and Barry Drain (1) got the points for their mid-table side.

The quarter-final fixtures in the Royds Hall Printing and Table Tennis Direct Handicap Cup competitions take place over the next couple of weeks, and this will also give teams the opportunity to catch up with their outstanding matches to be rearranged in the Louis France Huddersfield League.
