Melvyn Haigh, who has been treasurer of the league for the last 42 years, is retiring when the final match of this 2017-18 season is played.

He has, of course, done sterling work over the decades, but now the league are seeking a successor.

Anyone willing to take on the role is asked to contact league secretary Howard Young.

He can be contacted by email at howlesref@yahoo.co.uk

The League, of course, has been badly hit by postponements in recent weeks.

Persistent bad weather has put an end to several programmes of matches, including last week’s full list of games.

Officials are hoping this weekend’s league and cup games will not be affected.
